Pedaling out of Alum Creek State Park Beach north of Columbus, Ohio, I picked up a lot of hitchhikers whenever I stopped. Cicadas have reappeared after 17 years underground and in some wooded areas their high-pitched buzzing is almost deafening and they keep flying into anyone who moves. A really cool species that appears only every 17 years.
